Agenda event "BASQUE CULTURE IN THE FAMILY"
Exposition bilingue sur le personnage d'Olentzero, organisée par la Ville de Biarritz, l'Institut culturel basque et l'association Olentzeroren lagunak : bornes multimédias permettant de consulter des témoignages, borne d'écoute de chants, panneaux de présentation d'Olentzero, coin coloriage pour les enfants.
Olentzero est une figure centrale de la culture et de la mythologie basques. Bien plus qu’un simple personnage festif, il incarne le cycle naturel et le passage des saisons : l’obscurité hivernale recule, et la lumière revient peu à peu. Sa présence marque le solstice d’hiver, moment à partitr duquel où les jours s’allongent et où l’espoir de jours meilleurs renaît.
Traditionnellement représenté comme un charbonnier descendant des montagnes, Olentzero s’inscrit dans un ensemble de traditions basques qui célèbrent le retour de la lumière et la continuité de la vie à travers les saisons. Il est intemporel, messager de renouveau et symbole de transmission culturelle entre générations.
