Tasio travaille comme ch arbonnier depuis l’âge de quatorze ans dans un petit village de Navarre. La vie change mais la montagne reste la même : abrupte et majestueuse. Théâtre de ses jeux d’enfance, elle lui permettra en se faisant braconnier quelques années plus tard de subvenir aux besoins de sa famille. Bien que ce soit une période d’exode rural, d’émigration vers les villes, à la recherche d’un avenir meilleur, Tasio préferera, pour sauvegarder sa
liberté, demeurer dans la solitude de la Sierra basque.
