Keinu hizkuntzak komunikazio sistema pantomimiko unibertsal gisa kontsideratzen ohi dira, behar bezalako gramatikarik gabekoak eta ahozko hizkuntzak ez bezain aberats eta konplexuak. Mintzaldi horretan, Carlo Geraci-k Frantziako keinu hizkuntzan jarriko du arreta erakusteko karakterizazio horiek ez direla egokiak eta ahozko hizkuntzak bezain naturalak direla keinu hizkuntzak. Keinu hizkuntzen lexikoa objektuen irudikapen ikonikoaz haratago joaten da eta haien gramatikazko egitura ahozko hizkuntzarekiko independentea da ; zenbait alderditan, ahozko hizkuntzak baino aberatsagoak dira. Bestalde, keinu hizkuntzak giza hizkuntzaren erresilientziaren froga dira. Bukatzeko, Carlo Geraci-k keinu hizkuntzaren erabilerak duen garrantzia eta elkorren komunitatearentzat duen egokitasuna aztertuko ditu.
Mintzaldia keinu hizkuntzaz izanen da, bat-bateko itzulpenekin euskaraz eta frantsesez. Euskal Etnopoloaren 2020-2021eko mintegian sartzen da eta IKER-en partaidetzarekin antolatua da.
